Untitled document Juan Santos Garanton was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1957. His early artistic training was with his friend, the renowned Venezuelan artist, John Moore Gutierrez.
Juan began his formal education at the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale in South Florida and then moved to Caracas where he worked in Advertising Agencies that include J. Walter Thompson and Grey Advertising of Venezuela.
Back in Florida since 1985, his experiences include more than 20 years working as a Graphic Designer until becoming a Creative Director for local Ad Agencies in the Tampa Bay area.
His work has been showcased in many galleries in both North and South America and displayed in public venues, museums and private collections all over the world.
The turning point of his career came in 1999 when he returned to his first love, fine arts and watercolors. His work captures the beauty of the Saint Petersburg and Tampa Bay area Landmarks. He makes visual what the environment provides in a Florida that is changing minute by minute.
At the St. Petersburg Saturday Morning Market he shares his talent with the people at affordable prices. His paintings of landmarks, sea and landscapes depict a colorful lifestyle for the community and visitors from all over.
“ The images that attract me and constitute the integrity of my work are those which are linked to the people in the community and its surroundings landmarks, that’s why I try to convey in my work: their simplicity, their direct contact with nature and history, the peculiar architecture, attractive and full of color and the fauna and flora. I use watercolor as a medium, with a very personal technique, achieved through self-learning and lots of practice…” Juan S. Garanton
